Who We Are

Community Councils

Clackmannanshire is divided into nine manageable Community Council areas to achieve the best possible representation for each locality. Clackmannanshire Council are responsible for the administration of Community Council elections and provide a very small amount of funding towards Community Council costs. These areas are shown on the map below :

Clackmannan Community Council represents the area to the south-east of the county on this map, covering the larger towns and villages such as Clackmannan, Kennet and Forestmill, and smaller settled areas such as Kennetpans, Linn Mill, Gartlove and Aberdona.

Membership

The Clackmannan Community Council can have up to 14 council members, all of whom must reside within the Community Council area.

Currently there are eight members of the Community Council – all volunteers. Members have a 4-year term of office. The current Community Council has been in place since October 2025, and the next elections will be held in 2029.

The Chair of the Community Council is Carol Smith.

Groups and Committees

The Community Council has a variety of sub-groups and committees, some of which are supported by other groups and volunteers from the community. For instance, our Gardening group co-ordinates teams of volunteers to maintain the floral displays on our streets. Our Heritage Group organises a variety of walks, tours and other initiatives to ensure that the local historic and natural environments can be enjoyed and preserved.

Events and Fundraising

The Community Council organises and supports local events through the year – from summer picnics in the park to the senior citizens’ Christmas lunch, and from Mother’s Day tea to Bingo nights. These are great occasions to bring families together, support older and more vulnerable residents, and sometimes raise much-needed funds for local projects, such as the ongoing improvements to Alexander Park.
